Welcome to a new world of work, where productivity and employee engagement are key to success, especially in turbulent times. Our latest Work Trends Index report highlights the resilience and performance of engaged workforces and their impact on a company's financial performance.

Together, Viva Glint, Viva Insights, and Viva Pulse help organizations drive engagement and positive business outcomes by gaining a rich understanding of the employee experience and turning insights into action for continuous improvement.

Introducing Microsoft Viva Glint

Today at the Microsoft Viva Summit, we announced that Viva Glint will come to the Viva suite this summer. Viva Glint builds on and enhances the Glint you already know and love as a "voice of the employee" solution that will continue to help organizations understand and improve engagement with immediate visibility into the employee experience. Viva Glint works across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit, helping leaders and managers better understand their teams’ needs. Viva Glint will be included with the current Microsoft Viva suite subscription and available as a standalone app when it becomes available (GA) in July 2023.

The surveys available within Viva Glint will help organizations create a culture of feedback and translate employee sentiment into action with scalable engagement programs, streamline data analysis with next generation AI to make informed decisions, and improve performance with recommended actions grounded in people science.

In addition to the manager and leader tools within Viva Glint, Viva Pulse provides managers the opportunity to send team-wide surveys on a continuous basis and in-between org-wide surveys. Managers and project leads can empower their teams to voice their needs during unexpected changes, day-to-day tasks, and projects directly in the flow of work. Viva Pulse will be available for public preview June 2023 and available (GA) in July 2023.

Copilot in Viva Glint coming later this year

Building on last month’s announcement of Microsoft 365 Copilot, we’re excited to announce that Copilot in Viva Glint will help organizations create a more engaged and productive workforce. Viva Glint already leverages AI to help HR teams, leaders, and managers streamline aggregated engagement data analysis, automatically highlighting topic areas, keywords, and sentiments from thousands of comments through Comment Analytics with natural language processing (NLP) and generating real-time alerts for at-risk employee populations.

Building on this, Copilot will come later this year to Viva Glint, providing organization leaders with a robust way to quickly zero in on top issues and potential solutions from employee feedback. A survey in large organizations usually produces thousands of employee comments and it can take hours or days to read through these comments and figure out what to do next. Using next-generation AI, Copilot in Viva Glint will provide full sentence summaries of remarks from all questions, quickly highlighting what matters to employees and giving leaders the context, they need to take effective action. Copilot will give leaders a new way to analyze employee sentiments by posing questions in their own words.

Get holistic insights with Viva Glint and Viva Insights integration

While engagement surveys have been the primary way for organizations to measure how employees feel about their experience, what has been missing to date is the ability to connect those insights to the workplace behaviors that shape employee perceptions. With the integration of behavioral data from Viva Insights into the employee sentiment data from Viva Glint, organizations can get a holistic understanding of the employee experience to correlate how people feel with how they work to drive business improvements.

The Viva Glint and Viva Insights integration will bring together aggregated and de-identified sentiment data and workplace analytics to deliver powerful insights into engagement, empowering organizations to pinpoint and address areas of concern faster using recommended actions that drive positive change. This integration will be bi-directional, enabling both organizational leaders and analysts to harness rich insights in tools and surfaces familiar to them, informing decision making and improved business outcomes.

• The Viva Glint HR analyst dashboard with Viva Insights data is now in private preview. Tune in to the Insight experience area session at the Viva Summit to hear how customers and Microsoft will leverage these integrations to enhance employee engagement. These integrations will also be available on the Viva Glint org leader dashboard to follow.

• A new report template available to analysts in Viva Insights analyst workbench will be available in the coming months for joint Viva Insights and Glint customers. This template will enable Insights analysts to combine sentiment data from Glint with data about how people work from Insights. The results will empower organizational leaders to more accurately identify the factors that can erode engagement, proactively adjust work norms, and then measure the impact of those changes over time.

New report templates in Viva Insights

Viva Insights empowers business leaders to understand and predict the impact of day-to-day actions on business outcomes and use data to continuously improve performance.

There are several out-of-the box diagnostic templates available today that analysts can use to visually analyze workplace patterns and trends. These reports, which are ready to share with business leaders, provide insight into how employees respond to transition and change, work patterns and trends across hybrid work modes, meeting culture and effectiveness, behaviors and trends across the manager population, employee wellbeing, and more.

In addition to the new report template that combines data from Viva Glint and Viva Insights, there are several additional reports that will be available in the coming weeks and months.

• Recurring meeting audit: Teams user meeting time has increased 252% since February 2020. This report helps organizations reduce low-value meetings and meeting bloat, optimize meetings for decision making, and create capacity for important work. This report will be available in May 2023.

• Onboarding and development: This report helps organizations identify opportunities to improve programs for new hires and those new to the role. Weighed against the baseline for tenured employees and other factors, it looks at measures such as manager 1:1 coaching time, time spent in learning-related activities, and how quickly those new to company or role are building their networks. This report will be available May 2023.

• Potential impact explorer: This report helps organizations identify opportunities to optimize employee time and keep them engaged with their work—Estimating potential impact of meeting effectiveness plan and time preservation plan. This report will be available June 2023.

• Diversity, equity, and inclusion: Companies know how to measure diversity, but often struggle with inclusion and equity measures. This report measures the impact of DEI strategies. Examining coaching time, access to leadership, network composition, engagement drivers, and other career advancement elements. This report will be available in private preview June 2023.

We're also excited about an enhancement to meeting category insights. Today, users in Outlook and Teams are manually assigned categories. With this update, it will automatically categorize meetings based on meeting size, cadence, and attendees. Categories include Long meetings, Large meetings, Long and large meetings, Recurring meetings, and 1:1 meetings. These categories will only be displayed in Viva Insights and will not overwrite categories assigned in Outlook or Teams. Instead, users who manually categorize meetings in Outlook and Teams will also have access to these additional insights about meeting composition.

Looking ahead

We're very excited about bringing the voice of the employee from Glint into Viva to power new insights and recommendations to drive business impact. Viva Glint will be available in July 2023.
